appdb.dat

The undocumented binary notification store of Windows 8.x and Windows 10 before build 1607, replaced by wpndatabase.db.

appdb.dat sits in the same Notifications folder as its successor and starts with the signature DNPW. Version 3 (Windows 10) is made of 256 fixed-size chunks, each with a push URI, a badge, five tile slots and twenty toast slots holding XML and FILETIME times. The layout is known only from reverse engineering, and a chunk does not name its app. See appdb.dat, the legacy notification store.
